Christmas

Christmas time can be exciting for some, but for everyone it will come and go. The big red banner in this photograph has already been taken down as the Carol Service, which some describe as St Simon’s event of the year, is two days passed. Don’t let this superficial high deflate you when it is no more. The reason for the season is Jesus, and in particular, that you can have Jesus in your heart, all the time.

My favourite Christmas Bible verse is that “the true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.” (John 1:9). Having Jesus in your heart will guide you, will illuminate your thoughts, will let you see the end plan and will cheer you on your way. He will also draw you into the warmth of the fellowship of people who are all travelling into his light together: ‘A Community Led by God.’ Regardless of the thrills and the pain of Christmas, as it can be for many, Jesus will never leave you. Through his death on a cross, you are in covenant with a covenant-keeping God who is faithful.

Happy Christmas.
